The quantum industry saw $108 million in new private capital enter the market during the second quarter of 2023, as research institutions and businesses, alike made impressive advances to bring quantum advantage to the real world, according to The Quantum Insider’s quarterly report.
From April to June, 2023, there were 16 newly disclosed private funding rounds that drove the total funding above nine figures. Those rounds included a $24 million Series A for Strangeworks, an Austin, TX-based quantum computing software company.
Meanwhile, scientists announced achievements, including two teams that are moving topological quantum computing toward real-world use. For example, Quantinuum researchers announced they created non-Abelian topological quantum matter. Many experts believe topological quantum computers are the best option for the development of general quantum computers, devices that are not significantly hampered by noise in the environment that can throw off sensitive quantum calculations.
